Neglected Deviantart account.

Wed Aug 26, 2009, 7:14 PM
Since I have taken a new job as a Coldfusion developer, I have spent zero time making art.

I have spent time encouraging my wife to work on her art, writing. She is a gifted writer and I would love to see her published.

She has been writing each day, like an artist must sketch every day. Her dedication is inspirational. I'd like to say I was as dedicated.

Quarterly update?

Fri Dec 26, 2008, 6:13 PM
It is been a long time since I have updated.

It is almost time to reflect on 2008. It was a very hard year. My move to DC was very hard. I learned that my family would go to the ends of the Earth for me. They would leave all their friends and family to move to a strange place just so I would be happy.

I am blessed. Beyond lucky, blessed by God is the only way to describe my life.

Things now are hard, as I work to justify their sacrifice.

Will I have time to make art and post it here? I'd like to think so. So many things I have made lately I can't post anywhere because they are on closed networks.

So, here is to 2009!

Updates for October

Tue Oct 21, 2008, 7:20 PM
Yes October is almost over and what have I done?
- I have been working on the graphics for some internal online training since our amazing graphic artist left to live in Colorado and raise Alpaca.
- My daughter turned 9.
- My sons, one will turn 12 and the littlest one will turn 6.
- My Wii broke...

This is the greatest source of conflict at this point. The disk loading gear is bad. The Wii would work if I took it apart, but if I did so then Nintendo might not fix it for $75. So the plan is to buy a new one (along with buying a new Playstation 2) and then ebay/craigslist the old one and let someone else have Nintendo fix it. Who knows? I am willing to sell the functional yet unplayable Wii for $100.

Figured it was time..

I have not been here since I have been busy. Too bad it is all work that is on a private network that most of the people who can read this can't see.

It is good to be busy.

Sittin outside of Best Buy..

Mon Jun 9, 2008, 11:01 AM
I spent Sunday morning sitting in front of Best Buy to buy a Wii Fit.

First let me say that here in DC it was already in the 80s by 9am. With the humidity it was officially "Hot-n-Sweaty".

So, Sunday it was the plan to buy a Wii Fit. Thinking that there was no big deal about it I took my boys to Lowes to buy some stuff to make our garden hose work properly, instead of spray water inside of the basement celling.

On the way to Lowes we swung by Best Buy to see when they open. To our shock and horror there were campers outside. They had been there since 8am and it was 9 when we got there.

We were forced to camp.

We (myself, my 11 year old and my 5 year old) sat on the ground in front of Best Buy for two hours in the 8th-in-line spot. There were a total of 15 Wii Fits and many people were in line for over an hour before the "BB" squad gave us the count.

We got our ticket for a Fit, went inside to get in another line (this time in AC, most welcome change). A "old broad" was in line ahead of us and was peacefully chatting the bystanders. When it was her turn she gave a FULL-ON HISSY FIT for a Wii Fit.

"I didn't know you'd have to stand in line outside to buy one, give me one now."

"No, those are all sold to people who cared enough to sit in the heat for one. No Fit for you."

She finally grabbed a rack of flyers off the counter and threw the whole rack up in the air, scattering dozens of flyers all over the customer service area.

"Nice example" I told the _itch. My kids were horrified that a grown-up could be so immature.

We got ours along with a copy of Wii Ski and the protection plan (the man made a good point, unlike other Wii controllers you actually stand and walk on this one, the plan might be a good idea). All for the price of $129.00 (I had some BestBuy points that gave me $10 off).

The Wii Fit is amazing. Be warned that it will destroy your ego because it insists that I am "overweight". I might not be trim but figured that I am the high side of "normal" -- it considers me deeply "overweight".
